On May 22, FreshDirect announced the launch of its first-ever brick-and-mortar location:. Located at 70 Main Street in Southampton, New York, the store officially opened over Memorial Day weekend and will remain open through the end of December.
To celebrate the opening, FreshDirect hosted a grand opening event this past Saturday that welcomed local residents, families, and community leaders.“One of the day’s highlights was the vibrant farmstand, where attendees could shop and bring home beautiful, fresh fruits and vegetables — completely free of charge,” Lauren Jangl, the brand’s director of public relations, shared with Food & Wine“FreshDirect was thrilled to connect with the local community in such a meaningful way.”
Ultimately, the pop-up wants to make fresh, high-quality food more accessible to the neighborhood it serves. “With FreshDirect on Main, we’re bringing our online marketplace to life, offering customers a more personal, immersive, and interactive way to experience our brand,” Metin Hacıoğlu, FreshDirect’s deputy CEO, said in a statement provided to Food & Wine.Beyond that, FreshDirect on Main aims to be more than just a grocery store — it’s designed to function as a local gathering place. The store plans to host a range of community-focused experiences, including wine and cheese tastings, ice cream socials, pizza-making classes, and a kids’ program called “Tiny Tastemakers.”
“Long Island has always been home to some of the Northeast’s best farms, artisans, and purveyors, and it felt only natural to open our first store in the heart of Southampton,” Hacıoğlu said. “From day one, we’ve believed in the power of local, partnering with those who share our passion for quality, sustainability, and flavor.”
Open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., the store is styled like a farmers market and features a curated selection of local and farm-fresh produce, premade foods, wine and beer, small-batch olive oils, cheeses, and seasonal items from regional farms, including Homestead Acres and Deer Run Farms.The container is now available in warehouses and online for shipping.
